NEET UG 2026 requires a photo of 3.5×4.5 cm (approximately 413×531 pixels at 300 DPI). The file must be JPEG format, between 10 KB and 200 KB, against a white or light background. The photo must be recent (taken within 6 months of the application date).
Aim for 80–150 KB for the best balance of quality and safety. The portal accepts 10–200 KB, so you have room. Going above 200 KB will cause the upload to fail. Going below 10 KB will also be rejected. Use PhotoFit to compress to exactly 100 KB if unsure.
Yes. NTA requires candidates to write their name and the date the photo was taken below the photograph on the printed application form. The digital upload itself does not need text, but the printed version must have it. Keep a few printed copies ready.
Yes, a professional studio photo is ideal. Make sure the background is white or very light, there are no shadows on the face, the expression is neutral, and the file is saved as JPEG at 10–200 KB. Studio photos are usually too large in file size and need compression to fit the portal limit.
Check: (1) Format — must be JPEG, not PNG or HEIC. (2) Dimensions — must be close to 3.5×4.5 cm at the required DPI. (3) Background — must be white or very light. (4) File is not corrupted. If all else fails, take a new photo against a white wall in good lighting.
