How to Resize a Photo to Exact Dimensions Online — Free
PhotoFit Guide · August 2026 · 5 min read
Every government exam portal, passport application, and job portal specifies an exact photo size in pixels — and getting it wrong means rejection. Here is a complete guide to resizing any photo to exact pixel dimensions in under a minute, for free, without installing any software.
Why does photo dimension matter?
Government portals validate photo dimensions before accepting your application. A photo that is 210×230 px when the portal expects 200×230 px will be rejected outright. The same applies to passport photo agencies, corporate HR systems, and social media profile uploads.
File size (KB) and pixel dimensions are two different things. Compressing a photo to 40 KB does not change its width and height in pixels — you need a dedicated resize step.
Step-by-step: Resize a photo using PhotoFit
1
Open PhotoFit
Go to photofitapp.in in any browser — Chrome, Safari, Firefox. No account, no download required.
2
Click the Resize & Compress tab
The hero tool on the homepage compresses to KB. Switch to the "Resize & Compress" tab to set pixel dimensions.
3
Enter your target dimensions
Type the width and height in pixels. For example, 200 in the Width field and 230 in the Height field for most Indian exam portals.
4
Set a KB target (optional)
Most portals require both a pixel size and a KB limit. Enter the maximum KB in the file size field — e.g., 50 for a 50 KB limit.
5
Upload your photo
Click Upload or drag-and-drop. JPG, PNG, and WebP are supported. Your photo stays on your device.
6
Download the resized photo
Click Download. The file is ready for upload to any exam, passport, or job portal.
