SSC CGL 2026 has a strict 50 KB photo cap (200×230 px minimum, JPEG). Your phone camera produces files 100–200× too large. Whether you need to compress a photo for SSC CGL online free or resize to 200×230 pixels for the SSC portal, here is how to do it in 30 seconds.

| File size | 20 KB minimum — 50 KB maximum |
| Format | JPEG / JPG only |

| Exam | SSC CGL 2026 (notification in April–May) |
SSC CGL 2026 requires a JPEG photo between 20 KB and 50 KB, with minimum pixel dimensions of 200×230 px. The background must be white or off-white. The face must be clearly visible with a neutral expression. Always verify on the official SSC notification as specs can change each cycle.
The SSC portal was built for low-bandwidth conditions and has a file size check that immediately rejects anything above 50 KB. Unlike NEET or UPSC which allow much more, SSC and IBPS portals were designed with 50 KB as an absolute ceiling. A standard phone camera photo is 100–200× too large and must be compressed.
Open PhotoFit, go to Compress, upload your photo, and type 45 in the KB field. Aiming for 45 KB instead of 50 gives a 5 KB safety margin. Download and upload to the SSC portal. Total time: under 30 seconds.
White or off-white plain background. No patterns, textures, or colours. No shadows on the face or background. A plain white wall in natural daylight works well for a DIY photo.
Yes. SSC requires both a photo and a signature as separate uploads. The signature must be 10–20 KB in JPEG format. Scan or photograph your signature on white paper, then compress it to 15 KB using PhotoFit.
